  • On Thursday October 12th friends of the OCD Centre participated in a Paint Nite Fundraiser

  • Painters had a chance to discuss some myths about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  •  Each painting took on a unique look that reflected the individuality of the painter behind it

This year the OCDC participated in The Winnipeg Foundation’s ‘Youth in Philanthropy’ Program. Students at Vincent Massey School contacted the office to arrange a meeting with one of our board members in order to learn more about the OCD Centre and what kind of gaps a small grant could fill. Dianne Budgell (co-chair president) was happy to sit and chat with participants to explain what OCD is and how our organisation services the Winnipeg and Manitoba community through peer-support group meetings and education/outreach projects. We were incredibly lucky to be chosen as recipients of a small grant that will help us purchase a laptop for educational presentations and help us to train our support group facilitators. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of YiP in 2017!

The Youth in Philanthropy program is an initiative created by The Winnipeg Foundation to introduce high-school students to the idea of philanthropy and community outreach and development. There are currently 23 different participating schools and community youth organisations, and since it’s conception the YiP Program has granted more than 1.5  million dollars! You can find out more about YiP here.

The OCD Centre is proud to announce the launch of our new website! Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers we now have a space to share information and resources on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Hoarding Disorder, as well as keep the public aware of how we are working every day to raise awareness of OCD and related disorders. In the coming months the pages on this site will grow, so check back for updates!
